“Grateful Hearts” gifts help create better healthcare

-

There’s no greater feeling of gratitude than when you or a loved one has received the gift of renewed health. Whether it was an emergency situation that required immediate treatment, a surgical procedure to save a life, or a lengthy illness needing ongoing care and compassion, we can’t help feeling thankful for the doctors, nurses, and staff who were there for us when we needed them the most. “It’s a privilege for us to hear about the life-changing experiences of patients and their family members when they’ve received care at PRHC,” says Lesley Heighway, PRHC Foundation President & CEO. “We often have patients come to us saying they want to give back as their way of saying thank you for outstanding care. The Grateful Hearts program allows them to share their gratitude with their care providers, while also making a donation that will directly impact medical care for many other patients.” Donations to the PRHC Foundation help fund the technology and equipment that form the backbone of patient care at PRHC. They bring new, lifesaving services to our community through vital upgrades in areas all over the hospital. For example, thanks to donor support, PRHC has recently been able to invest in the newest vital signs monitors and central station for the Emergency Department, allowing staff to triage and monitor patients’ health minute by minute; a targeted temperature management system for the Intensive Care Unit, to keep patients safe while recovering from heart attacks; and minimally invasive surgical tools for 9 of its 12 operating rooms, allowing surgeons to make smaller incisions and leaving patients with less pain, shorter hospital stays, quicker recoveries and overall better outcomes. You and your loved ones can make a gift in recognition of anyone at PRHC who provided excellent care, simply by calling or visiting the Foundation office, or completing an online form. The PRHC Foundation will share your message with those who have been honoured, along with a “grateful heart” lapel pin that will be given as a reminder of the difference they have made. “The equipment and technology funded by donors through programs like Grateful Hearts is a key part of making sure our hospital is able to provide the best care to our community,” says Heighway. “But having state-of-the-art tools and facilities also helps to attract and retain the best doctors, nurses, technicians and staff to PRHC. It’s their expertise and dedication that allow our hospital to provide world-class care.” Did you or someone you love receive great care at Peterborough Regional Health Centre? Say thanks to your healthcare provider and help make great care possible at your hospital. Your donations will help fund the tools and technology that our doctors need to deliver world-class care to your family, friends and loved ones.
