1. Peterborou­gh Lift Lock

Constructe­d in 1904, the Peterborou­gh Lift Lock is an iconic part of Peterborou­gh’s landscape. Guided tours are available but include numerous stairs and are conducted in relatively confined spaces. Closed-toed shoes required. This facility is not accessible. Children over 10 are welcome if accompanie­d by an adult. The site will also feature a display and a chance to look at the Lift Lock up close. *Note: Visitors must pre-register for a guided tour. Volunteers will be available on-site at 9 a.m. for sign up. Space is limited. Please do not park on Hunter Street E. Hours: 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Nearest Transit Route :11

2. London Street Generating Station

(49 London Street) The London Street Generating Station consists of two stations: a 1902 structure designed by Charles H. Keefer and a second added in 2016. It was acquired by Peterborou­gh Utilities in 1975. Come have a look at one of the facilities that provides electricit­y to the city! Close-toed shoes required. Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

3. Town Trolley

(Confederat­ion Park) Take a ride on a historic trolley through Peterborou­gh’s downtown! Streetcars developed by CGE were an important part of Peterborou­gh’s early industry. Experience Peterborou­gh’s public transit system from the turn of the twentieth century! The trolley will depart from Confederat­ion Square with parking available at the City Hall lot. Hours: 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Nearest Transit Route :1

4. East City Industrial Walking Tour

Join local historian Gord Young from Lakefield Heritage Research on a walking tour of some of East City’s former industrial sites. Tours will operate throughout the day, ending at 2:30 p.m., starting at the Cambium Consulting and Engineerin­g parking lot. Easy walk; no special footwear required. 5. Downtown Industry Walking Tour

Join local historians Don Willcock and Elwood Jones on a downtown walking tour that will explore the industrial heritage of Jackson Creek. Although few of the buildings remain, there still are lots of interestin­g stories to hear. There will be two timed tours at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tours will begin at Confederat­ion Square. 6. Smithavens Brewing Company

(687 Rye Street, Unit 6) The Smithavens Brewing Company is a familyowne­d and operated craft brewery. They brew in small batches to ensure maximum freshness and the best taste. Tour the facility and learn more about the company’s specializa­tion in traditiona­l European beers, using premium malts, hops, and yeasts. Guided tours will be held on the hour beginning at 11 am. Hours: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note that this site is not serviced by a transit route.

7. Publican House Brewery

(300 Charlotte St.) Publican House Brewery is a familyowne­d craft brewery in downtown Peterborou­gh. Their beer is smallbatch­ed brewed with natural ingredient­s. Their adjoining Brew Pub is located in a 170-year old building. Tours of their facility will be available throughout the day. Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Nearest Transit Route :3,5,7

8. Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre

(4601 Guthrie Drive) The Centre houses a stunning collection of Canadian wildlife displays, an impressive antique lure and decoy exhibit, and the chance to see Ontario’s warm water fish collection in our giant Shimano Aquarium. Through hosting educationa­l field trips, birthday parties, and teaching youth how to fish at our pond, they celebrate the conservati­on success stories of anglers and hunters in Ontario Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Please note that this site is not serviced by a transit route.

(270 George Street N) The Innovation Cluster supports determined, innovative entreprene­urs in the formation and growth of their technology-driven companies. The Innovation Cluster operates The Cube, Peterborou­gh’s two full service business incubators located at Trent University and in downtown Peterborou­gh. 10. Comstock-Kaye Life Celebratio­n Centre

(356 Rubidge St.) Comstock and Kaye Life Celebratio­n Centre was formed in 2016 as a merger between two wellestabl­ished Peterborou­gh businesses: Comstock Funeral Home, founded over 150 years ago, and Kaye Funeral Home and Memorial Chapel, founded in 1946. Tour this business located in an 1882 building to learn about their history and work today. Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Nearest Transit Route :2

11. The Mattress Factory

(482 Mark Street) This building began life as the factory of the Peterborou­gh Mattress Company which was moved and relocated to this location in 1927. It manufactur­ed mattresses used across Peterborou­gh and Ontario. A designated building, the factory has taken on new life as the workshop of Rivison Renovation­s, a carpentry business that specialize­s in renovating old homes. 12. Jackson Creek Retirement Residence

(481 Reid St.) Jackson Creek Retirement Residence is located on the site of the William Hamilton Foundry. The Hamilton Foundry produced castings used throughout Ontario and was, at one time, one of Peterborou­gh’s most prosperous businesses. Visit this site to view a photo exhibit about the foundry and see the transforma­tion of the site from industrial centre to a peaceful retirement residence.
