Lions Club selling fireworks at Fowlers Corners

Looking to add some bang to the Victoria long weekend? The Fowlers Corners and District Lions Club offers the best selection of fireworks in the area.

They will be selling in the Coffee Time parking lot, Fowlers Corners, May 16-20, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Funds raised will be used to help with community projects.

Lions

Fowlers Corners and District, Dunsford and Omemee Lions Clubs, Omemee Lioness Club and the Omemee Veterinary Hospital are organizing this year’s Dog Guide Walk, May 27, 1 p.m. Registrati­on begins at noon at Omemee Curling Centre, James St.

The 5 K walk will begin at the Curling Centre, rain or shine, dog or not.

Pledge sheets are available at local business including Green Tractors and the Veterinary Hospital. Whether you have a dog or not, your participat­ion or sponsorshi­p is welcome. Funds raised will go to support dog guides for those needing that type of assistance.

Curling awards

The Omemee Curling Centre held its annual banquet and awards ceremony last week.

The Monday afternoon Seniors’ league, first half winners were Gary Seymour, Laverne Muirhead, Mark Patterson and Andy Anderson.

Second half winners went to Murray McKinnon, Laverne Muirhead, Joe Caravaggio and Gary Cockerell.

Tuesday Mixed, first half winners were Rick Stockton, Leeann Gifford, Cassandra Mugford and Rhonda McCuaig.

Second half went to Rick Stockton, Alon Storey, Larry and Darlene McBride.

Gary Seymour, Earl and Carolyn Quackenbus­h and Kevin Collison were Overall winners of the Wednesday Competitiv­e league.

A division winners were Darryl Vernon, Terry Ouellette, Brian Thackeray and Ron Fox. B division winners were Wayne Telford, Craig and Michelle Kennedy and Trish Staples.

Thursday night mixed, first half winners were Brian Thackeray, Beryl Connell, Bob and Kelly Connell.

Second half winners were the team of Rob Curtin, Chris Emrich, Kathryn Wood and Scott McKinlay.

Thursday morning seniors, first half winners were Earl Quackenbus­h, Chris Edwards, Mary Heaslip and Ander Anderson. Second half winners were Bob Can Dompseler, Larry Franks, Kevin Collison and Bill Wilms

Craig and Michelle Kennedy presented the Willard Rehill Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award to Wayne Stovell.

Robert Curtin, President praised the members for the sense of community within the Club and the willingnes­s to help in so many different ways.

Ducktona 700

Tickets are available at Coronation Hall, local businesses and from Omemee Lions members for this year’s Ducktona 700 duck race. The race will take place June 30 at 1 p.m. at Mary St. bridge.

Tickets are $5 each and give you the chance to win $700 from C21 United, R.E. Brokerage, Omemee; a FitBit blaze from Glendarvon Farms, Cavan; 8 rounds of golf and a cart from Deer Run Golf Course; a blood pressure monitor donated by Countrysid­e Pharmacy and $100 from Aline Utility Ltd. in Lindsay.

The Dead last award for the slowest duck is $100 donated by Stoddart Funeral Home, Lindsay.

Don’t wait too long to purchase your tickets because they sold out early last year.
