Beamer run­ning for a third term rep­re­sent­ing Northcrest Ward

Andrew Beamer has an­nounced plans to run for a third term in Northcrest Ward.

Beamer, first elected as one of two coun­cil­lors in the ward in 2010, said Thurs­day he would file his nom­i­na­tion pa­pers to run again.

“It has been an hon­our to rep­re­sent Northcrest Ward over the past eight years. I have greatly en­joyed the work and I have done my best to live up to my re­spon­si­bil­i­ties and the faith that north end res­i­dents have placed in me,” Beamer stated in a re­lease.

“I am run­ning for re­elec­tion be­cause I want to con­tinue to move this city for­ward. I be­lieve in Peter­bor­ough and I want to help con­tinue to build a strong, safe and vi­brant com­mu­nity that will be pros­per­ous for years to come.”

Beamer stated his pri­or­i­ties in­clude north-end de­vel­op­ment (Che­mong Rd. widen­ing, neigh­bour­hood traf­fic calm­ing, the Trent Univer­sity twin-pad project and more) and job cre­ation and eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment at Clean­tech Com­mons and the air­port.

Beamer, a PCVS and Queen’s Univer­sity grad­u­ate, has served as chair­man of the gen­eral com­mit­tee of coun­cil, waste man­age­ment com­mit­tee and the joint ser­vice steer­ing com­mit­tee.

Northcrest Ward’s other city coun­cil­lor, Dave Haacke, also plans to seek re-elec­tion.
