Beamer running for a third term representi­ng Northcrest Ward

Andrew Beamer has announced plans to run for a third term in Northcrest Ward.

Beamer, first elected as one of two councillor­s in the ward in 2010, said Thursday he would file his nomination papers to run again.

“It has been an honour to represent Northcrest Ward over the past eight years. I have greatly enjoyed the work and I have done my best to live up to my responsibi­lities and the faith that north end residents have placed in me,” Beamer stated in a release.

“I am running for reelection because I want to continue to move this city forward. I believe in Peterborou­gh and I want to help continue to build a strong, safe and vibrant community that will be prosperous for years to come.”

Beamer stated his priorities include north-end developmen­t (Chemong Rd. widening, neighbourh­ood traffic calming, the Trent University twin-pad project and more) and job creation and economic developmen­t at Cleantech Commons and the airport.

Beamer, a PCVS and Queen’s University graduate, has served as chairman of the general committee of council, waste management committee and the joint service steering committee.

Northcrest Ward’s other city councillor, Dave Haacke, also plans to seek re-election.
