Jr. A Lakers fall to 0-5 with loss to Whitby Warriors
The Peterborough Merit Precision Jr. A Lakers dropped to 0-5 on the Ontario Jr. A Lacrosse League season with an 11-6 loss to the Whitby Warriors on Tuesday night at the Iroquois Arena in Whitby.
The game was tied at 3-3 with five seconds to go in the first period when Whitby’s Tanner Cook scored the second of his four goals on the night, deflating the Jr. A Lakers for the rest of the game.
Sean Westley led the Peterborough attack with two goals and two assists, including one goal on the power play.
Adam Kitchen had a goal and three assists, Brayden McGreggor a goal and two assists and Jayden Bushey a goal and an assist. Cal Davis scored the other Jr. A Lakers goal.
Nicholas Webb also assisted for Peterborough.
Drew Hutchison made his season debut for the Jr. A Lakers and took the loss in net.
Cook had four goals and two assists for the Warriors, while Dyson Williams had two goals and two assists, and Graydon Hogg had a goal and four assists.
Peterborough is in last place in the 11-team league and have allowed a league-leading 55 goals.
The Jr. A Lakers will get a six-day break before returning to action next week with road games May 28 at 8 p.m. against the Burlington Chiefs, May 30 at 7:30 p.m. against the St. Catharines Athletics and June 2 at 7 p.m. against the Mimico Mountaineers.
Their next home game isn’t until June 4 when they host the Brampton Excelsiors at 8 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
