Peterborough New Horizons Band present their spring concert, New Horizons for Mental Health planned for Friday starting at 7 p.m. at Calvary church, 1421 Lansdowne St. W.

The event raises funds and donates to a different group each year. This year, the concert benefits the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Interlink choir.

The Interlink program matches seniors with school-aged children for pen pal writing and eventually singing together for performances in the community.

Two separate choirs, students and seniors, rehearse under the direction of the same music director.

The Odyssey band kicks off the evening with a special composition Fanfare and Celebration, created by Joe Uebelacker, PNHB member and percussion coach, in celebration of the group’s fifteenth year.

Tickets are $10 at the door.

The spring concert is sponsored by Andrew Pyle, Scotia Wealth Management, as well as the government of Ontario and the City of Peterborough.
