All three Peterborough Wolverines lost their opening season games over the weekend to the Scarborough Thunder.

The Thunder are one of the new clubs that have joined the Ontario Football Conference this season after being in another youth football league in past summer seasons.

On Saturday the Junior Varsity Wolverines hosted the Thunder at the Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School Field and faced a strong opponent who defeated the Wolverines 41-14.

Scoring for the Wolverines with touchdowns were Max LeVasseur and Brett Bjorgan with both touchdowns converted by successful kicks from Spenser Vesnaver.

On Sunday the Bantam and Senior Varsity Wolverines squads travelled to Markham to face the Thunder.

The Bantams faced a strong team and were defeated 35-7.

Scoring for the Bantams was Sam LeVasseur with a touchdown which was converted by a successful kick from Qunitin Natress.

In the night cap, the Senior Varsity Wolverines and Thunder engaged in a tough defensive battle with the Thunder finally scoring in the last two minutes to earn a tough-fought 7-0 victory.

The Wolverines are now preparing to travel to Barrie this Sunday to battle the always strong Huronia Stallions.

This will be the third year in the Cottage Cup challenge. The Wolverines have won it in the first two years and want to retain the title.
