Celebration of life Friday for motorcycle crash victim
Central East Correctional Centre employee mourned
A celebration of life will be held Friday in Peterborough for a 48-year-old Central East Correctional Centre employee killed in a motorcycle-car collision last Friday afternoon about four kilometres north of the superjail near Dunsford.
Rhonda Christine-Campbell, of Cavan Monaghan Township, was riding her motorcycle when she died in the head-on collision around 4:45 p.m. Friday on City of Kawartha Lakes Road 36 near Pleasant Point Road, about 42 kilometres northwest of Peterborough.
A 65-year-old Lindsay man who was driving the car was taken by paramedics to Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay for treatment of injuries.
City of Kawartha Lakes OPP are continuing to investigate the collision.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband John Campbell and two children, two stepchildren and two grandchildren.
She was a registered nurse and expert witness for the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
She had been pursuing her master’s degree in nursing and recently went on a humanitarian mission to Honduras.
The celebration of life will take place Friday at 11 a.m. at the Highland Park Funeral Centre at 2510 Bensfort Rd. followed by a reception in the Highland Park Reception Centre.
The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Peterborough-based Friends of Honduran Children organization.
