Fleming’s class of 2018 set to graduate
It’s that time of year—Fleming College will host the 2018 convocation ceremony for graduates of Sutherland Campus at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre.
The convocation will take place from Tuesday through Thursday with two ceremonies a day, six ceremonies in total, starting at 10 a.m.
More than 2,400 students are eligible to receive certificates and diplomas at this year’s ceremony from more than 60 programs.
Two faculty members at Fleming College will be recognized at this year’s convocation.
Gwen Bennett, faculty member of the School of Health and Wellness will be receiving the Vice-President Academic’s Contract Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Bennett is being recognized for her passion and commitment for helping students as well as her professionalism in her teaching.
Shauna Longmuir, faculty member of the School of Law and Justice Studies, will receive the Charles E. Pascal Award, named in honour of the school's former president.
The award is recognizing Longmuir for her commitment and innovation to student learning and raising standards for individual success.
On Tuesday, three programs will have their graduating ceremony at 10 a.m. and following that will be the School of Business at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, the justice programs will have their graduation in the morning and community development programs will be in the afternoon.
The last day of ceremonies will be on June 7 for the School of Health and Wellness.

Fleming College features more than 100 full-time programs and has more than 5, 900 full-time and 10, 000 part-time students.
Fleming has campus locations in Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg and Haliburton.
This will be the final convocation for Trent president Tony Tilly, who is retiring. The search is on for his successor.
