Jazz in the air in Lakefield

Musical preview in June as festival returns to village in July

The 20th annual Lakefield Jazz, Art and Craft Festival will be on July 7. As a kickoff to the summer season, there will be live jazz music all over Lakefield on June 23. It will be a celebratio­n of all things jazz in preparatio­n for the upcoming a festival. Here are the times and locations of performanc­es:

Noon to 1 p.m. at Chocolate Rabbit: Pete Woolidge-Federico Pontani/ Keyboard- Guitar

Noon to 1 p.m. at Lakefield Pantry & Happenstan­ce: Sean Hully/Sax

1 to 3 p.m. at Cenotaph Park: The

L’ll Big Band (17 Musicians)

1 to 2 p.m. at Stuff Store: Sean Hully/Sax

2 to 3:30 p.m. at Lakefield Greek Restaurant: Biff Hannon-Donna Collison/Keyboard/Vocalist

2 to 3 p.m. at Cassis Bistro: Chris Smith/Guitar and vocalist

2 to 3 p.m. at Flannigan’s Butcher Shop: Al Grant-Tom Bell/Keyboard/ Double Bass

Do you need help with technology? The Selwyn Public Library is offering technology workshops through the month of June in Bridgenort­h, Ennismore, and Lakefield. Lakefield Farmers’ Market

The Lakefield Farmers’ Market is now open for the season. The market will be every Thursday until Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parking lot of the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre, located at 20 Concession St. in Lakefield. This year’s vendors will include Mclean Berry Farm, The Lakefield Pantry, OtonoBEE Apiary, Hard Winter Bread, the Nourish Project, Kawartha Winery, and many more local artisans and farmers.

Indian River Band

The Indian River Band will perform at the Lakefield Legion at 7:30 p.m. on June 16. The Legion is located at 10 Nicholls St. and tickets will cost $15 each. There will be a raffle, cash bar, and snacks. This is a fundraiser to support medical expenses for Maureen Boyes and her family. Tickets are available by phoning 705-875-7990.
