Summer reading club returns to library
Registration is now open for the TD Summer Reading Club this summer at the Selwyn Public Library. There will be stories, games, crafts, contests and much more. Play inside, outside, and upside down! The club begins the week of July 3 and runs until Aug. 16.
Participants can attend as many meetings as they wish once registered. The club will meet on Tuesdays in Lakefield, Wednesdays in Bridgenorth and Thursdays in Ennismore. Ages 4 to 6 meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and ages 7 to 10 meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at each branch. There will also be a drop-in Kids LEGO Club every Friday for ages 4 and up from July 13 to Aug. 24 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Bridgenorth Library. Ages 8 and under attend with a caregiver. No registration required. The LEGO club is drop-in. It’s an opportunity to play with the library’s giant LEGO collection and make your own creations to display in the library.
Lakefield Legion
Lakefield Legion Branch 77 presents its next Fabulous Friday Night Dinner this Friday at 5:30 p.m. Bring your Dad out for a wonderful turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Tickets are $15 in advance (by Wednesday prior) or $18 at the door. Reserve your advance tickets by calling (705) 652-7988.
Bridgenorth United Church
The United Church Women will have a Nifty Fifties wrap-up dinner on Wednesday 6 p.m. at the church. All ladies are welcome. There will be food, music and singing from the ‘50s. If possible, wear an article of clothing or an accessory from that era.
Also, try to bring a picture of yourself from the ‘50s. Special guest Diane Smith Linton will be bringing her harmonica. Bring your own plate, cup and cutlery.
The Women’s Coffee Group will be meeting on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at 780 Erlwyn Dr. There will be a potluck lunch and conversation for women. All are welcome.
Lakefield Jazz, Art and Craft Festival
The 20th annual Lakefield Jazz, Art & Craft Festival will be on July 7.
As a kickoff to the summer season, there will be live jazz music all over Lakefield on June 23. It will be a celebration of all things jazz in preparation for the upcoming festival. Here are the times and locations of performances:
