Knitters celebrating World Wide Knit in Public Day
In celebration of World Wide Knit in Public Day (WWKIPD), Emmanuel Knitters will be hosting a Knit in Public event at Emmanuel United Church West, 441 Rubidge St., on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon.
WWKIPD began in 2005 with 25 events worldwide and last year featured 1125 Knit in Public events in 54 countries. All are welcome; please bring your knitting, or other needlework, and a lawn chair. This event will take place rain or shine, either on the front lawn or in the upper hall. Refreshments will be served. Midweek Matinee
The Peterborough Public Library is hosting a Midweek Matinee, Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m., and will be showing the film Lovers (2017) directed by Azazel Jacobs and starring Debra Winger and Tracy Letts. There is no charge to attend; feel free to bring a comfy cushion and a light snack. This event takes place in the Multipurpose Room and is appropriate for those ages 14+. The library is located at 345 Aylmer St.
Artspace
Members of the public are invited to attend Artspace’s Annual General Meeting, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
This is an opportunity to discover what Artspace has been up to this past year, get involved with the centre and renew your membership.
Artspace is also seeking nominations for their Board of Directors. While all members of the public are invited to attend, only members in good standing can participate in voting. The evening also features a cash bar and refreshments. Artspace is located at 378 Aylmer St. and is a physically accessible space. Jurassic Party
The Trent Film Society presents a Jurassic Part, Wednesday at Market Hall, 140 Charlotte St., beginning at 8 p.m. The evening features a free screening of the original Jurassic Park movie (1993, rated PG-13) directed by Steven Spielberg; Jurassic Trivia, where the winner will receive two tickets to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom; and a T-Rex photo booth, where you can get your photo taken with a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Shift into Summer
Shift into Summer is Peterborough's cycling celebration and information event taking place Thursday at 6 p.m. at market Hall, 140 Charlotte St. Sue Sauve, Transportation Demand Management Planner with the City of Peterborough will be discussing upcoming cycling projects and programs, including a big announcement about the downtown and other cycling events taking place in Peterborough. The evening also features door prizes, cycling-centric entertainment and free valet bike parking. Everyone interested in cycling is welcome.
