Ready to Walk ’n’ Roll at 11th annual fundraiser at Fairhaven

Fairhaven is gearing up for their 11th Annual Walk ’n’ Roll event scheduled for Friday, with the theme Giddy Up for Walk ‘n’ Roll.

“Our Walk ’n’ Roll event raises both funds and awareness to ensure our residents continue to receive the high quality care they deserve in a home environmen­t,” says Jen Baro, executive assistant, Fairhaven Foundation.

Residents, staff, volunteers and community members will walk and roll the 1, 2, or 3 km route in front of the Home. The day of the event, sign in is at 4 p.m. with the walk starting at 4:30 p.m. Following the walk participan­ts will enjoy a western themed barbecue and entertainm­ent by Stephanie Dauncey and her band Willow Wind. Medal presentati­ons will round out the evening’s events.

Community members are invited to register for the event, sponsor one of the participan­ts in the event, or donate a raffle item. Registrati­on to take part closes Thursday.

Film Night

Sadleir House, 751 George St. N. is hosting a film night Thursday at 7 p.m. with Microcosmo­s screening at 7 p.m. and Starship Troopers showing at 8:40 p.m. There will be a licensed bar with pizza and raffle prizes.

The cost is 2$ for the double feature and popcorn.

Naturalist­s

The Peterborou­gh Field Naturalist­s meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Camp Kawartha Environmen­t Centre, 2505 Pioneer Rd. Guest Speaker Sarah Jamieson will speak on Big Spenders: The Breeding Ecology of North Island Brown Kiwi.

Jamieson, a postdoctor­al fellow at the Institute for Conservati­on

Research at San Diego Zoo Global and current rabies research biologist, MNRF, will speak on her research findings as a kiwi biologist.

Yard Sale Plus

Activity Haven is holding a yard sale Saturday beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the Activity Haven parking lot. The canteen will serve egg and peameal on a bun, muffins, fruit cocktail cups, juice, coffee, tea and water. Plants and baking will also be sold.

Come and find some hidden treasures! Activity Haven is located at 180 Barnardo Ave.

Church supper

Northminst­er United Church, 300 Sunset Ave., is holding a ham and strawberry supper Thursday, June 28 with sittings at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $15 for adults, and $6 for ages six to 12. Call 705-748-4881 to reserve your spot. The church is wheelchair accessible.

Strawberri­es

A strawberry supper will be held at Fairview United Church June 25 with sittings at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 years, and preschoole­rs are free. For reservatio­ns call 705-742-1328. The church is located at 724 Centre Line, Selwyn.
