WARSAW — The annual Benefit Cruise Night in Warsaw is happening on Aug. 1.

It’s a fundraiser in support of Douro-Dummer Township residents who could use a little help.

Funds this year will be split between the Mollohan family and the Meade family.

Roxanne Mollohan has leukemia. She’s been receiving her treatments in Kingston for the last several months. It’s been a trying time for Mollohan as she and her family travel to and live in Kingston as she battles the disease.

The Meade family was involved in a tragic collision on Highway 7 in December. Madison Meade, 8, is now confined to a wheelchair.

The fundraiser is hosted by the Warsaw Lions Club. They host a cruise night at Warsaw Lions Park on South St. every Wednesday night in the summer.

Each year, a resident or family or two are selected as the recipients of the annual fundraising event.

Last year, $38,000 was raised for Chad Pearson, who suffered from serious health issues.

The Benefit Cruise Night features prizes, draws, raffles, a barbecue, music and live entertainment by Victoria Pearce in the Patsy Cline Show.

Gates open at 3 p.m. and a rain date is set for the following Wednesday.

Cash and prize donations are needed. If a resident or business would like to help or donate, call the Douro-Dummer Township office at 705-652-8392 or Elsie Tedford at 705-652-8348
