Steenhuis, Evans, Currier up for grabs in NLL draft
Peterborough’s Turner Evans, Cory Vitarelli and Josh Currier, along with Peterborough Lakers veteran Mark Steenhuis, will all be up for grabs to the two newest National Lacrosse League teams.
The nine existing NLL franchises released their lists of 12 protected players on Tuesday ahead of the July 16 NLL expansion draft.
The Philadelphia Wings hold the first overall selection in the expansion draft. Both the Wings and the San Diego Seals will make alternating picks over nine rounds (18 total selections).
The new franchises will join the professional indoor lacrosse league for the 2018-19 season.
No current NLL team will be allowed to lose more than two players.
The Buffalo Bandits protected Peterborough’s Shawn Evans and Thomas Hoggarth and Peterborough Laker Nick Weiss, while dangling Steenhuis.
The Calgary Roughnecks protected Peterborough Lakers Zach Currier and Holden Cattoni, along with former Laker Curtis Dickson.
The Colorado Mammoth protected Peterborough Lakers captain Robert Hope but didn’t protect Peterborough’s Bryce Sweeting and former Peterborough Laker Brad Self, along with retired superstar and Peterborough native John Grant Jr.
The Georgia Swarm protected Laker Chad Tutton.
The New England Black Wolves did not protect former Peterborough Laker Chad Culp.
The Rochester Knighthawks protected Peterborough’s Jake Withers and Peterborough Lakers goalie Matt Vinc, while dangling Peterborough’s Josh Currier and Cory Vitarelli.
The league champion Saskatchewan Rush protected Peterborough Lakers goalie Evan

The Toronto Rock protected Peterborough Laker Adam
Jones, but dangled Peterborough’s Turner Evans and Peterborough Laker Brock Sorensen.
The Vancouver Stealth protected new Peterborough Lakers star Corey Small.
