French boys’ choir heading to city as part of tour
Free concert at Sacred Heart Church Wednesday
Les Petits Chanteurs de Bordeaux, a renowned boys' choir from France, will perform a free concert at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The choir, which consists of 55 boys ranging in ages from 7 to 20 years, regularly sings for Mass the 11th century Gothic Cathedral of Bordeaux in the south west of France.
They are on a Canadian Tour with stops in Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto, and Kingston, in addition to Peterborough. The historic Casavant Pipe Organ in Sacred Heart Church, recently designated by the Royal Canadian College of Organists, will also be featured in Wednesday's performance. Sacred Heart Church is located at 208 Romaine St., at the corner of Aylmer Street.
Hutchison House
Hutchison House Museum, 270 Brock St., is offering summer workshops for children. These workshops are an alternative to full time camp programs and run Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost is $15 per child and pre-registration is required. These workshops are appropriate for children ages 6 to 12.
On Wednesday, children will learn about Fairy Gardens, which were popular in the Victorian era, and create their own fantastical woodland village using natural and recycled materials. On July 18, the theme of the workshop is Dough Art and children will get to create two different types of dough for art creations.
Beautiful Butterflies is the focus of the workshop on July 25 and participants will make their own colourful butterflies out of tissue paper and coffee filters.
On Aug. 1, children will learn about Woodland Fairies and Elves and create their own fairy or woodland elf. Painting with Salt is the theme on Aug. 8. The final workshop runs Aug. 22 and gives children the opportunity to try their hand at felting and make their own pictures from raw wool.

Ribfest
From Friday to Sunday, Millennium Park, at the corner of King and water Streets, will be filled with the smell of barbecue BQ as the 16th annual Rotary Ribfest returns. Professional Ribbers serving this year include Fat Boy’s BBQ, Boss Hogs BBQ, Jack the Ribber, Smokehouse Bandits and Ontario Corn Roasters. Food will also be available from local restaurants - Dr. J’s BBQ & Brews, The Nutty Chocolatier, The BrickHouse Craft Burger Grill ‘n Bar, Island Cream Caribbean Cuisine, Silver Bean Café, McThirsty’s Pint, La Hacienda and Silk Roots.

Peterborough Musicfest
Bring chairs, blankets, family and friends and enjoy a free concert in Del Crary Park. The new wave band A Flock of Seagulls takes the stage on Wednesday, and Synth-Pop star Howard Jones will be performing on Saturday.
