A Peterborough woman is going to federal prison for dealing cocaine.

Heather Bell, 49, was sentenced to two years and 27 days in federal prison by Justice J.R. Morgan in Ontario Court of Justice on June 28.

On May 31, Bell was arrested in the area of Park and Sherbrooke streets after an ongoing investigation by the city police intelligence, crime analyst, asset forfeiture and drug unit.

She was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of heroin and possession of proceeds of crime.

Bell pleaded guilty to the trafficking charge and the possession of heroin; the possession of proceeds of crime charge was withdrawn.

Late last year, the OPP’s repeat offender parole enforcement squad was looking Bell in Peterborough for parole breaches. At the time, she was on parole during a two-year, seven-month sentence for drug trafficking.

In September 2015, Bell was caught with cocaine and marijuana in a raid at a Bethune St. home.

During the raid, city police seized 55.8 grams of cocaine, four grams of marijuana, $5,045 and some fentanyl patches.

Bell pleaded guilty to drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and was sentenced to two years and 99 days in prison.

On the same day, she was also sentenced to 90 days for an earlier drug possession charge.
