New tour offers a look at prohibitio­n in city

The Prohibitio­n Era of the 1920s and ‘30s is the focus of a new tour from Trent Valley Archives from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. Guided by a costumed story-teller, you’ll view residences and businesses which were involved with illicit activities in the area.

Harrison Family Reunion

The 91st Harrison Family Reunion potluck picnic will be held on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the farm of Roger and Kathy Kidd, located at 832 5th Line, Selwyn. All descendant­s of Richard and Jane Harrison, early settlers in Smith Township are welcome to attend.

Selwyn Public Library

Registrati­on is now open for Fall Children’s Programs at the Selwyn Public Library. All programs are offered for free, and spaces are limited. Registrati­on and can be found online at www.mypublicli­brary.ca under Programs.

Babytime begins Sept. 20 and runs for 6 weeks for ages birth to 18 months and their caregivers. Babytime meets in Ennismore from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursdays.

Toddlertim­e begins Sept. 19 and runs for 6 weeks. It is for ages 19 months to 36 months and meets from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in Bridgenort­h on Wednesdays.

Fall Storytime for ages 3 and up begins the week of September 11 and will run for 8 weeks. It will be from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on Tuesdays in Lakefield and Wednesdays in Bridgenort­h.

There will be a new After School STEAM Club (Science, Technology, Engineerin­g, Art and Math) for grades 3 to 6. It will begin the week of Oct. 23 and run for six weeks. The club will meet from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in Lakefield, Wednesdays in Bridgenort­h (starts at 3:15 in Bridgenort­h) and Thursdays in Ennismore. Activities will include LEGO, art, Cubelets, Green Screen video creation and more.

There will be a Drop-In Saturday Storytime for all ages at the Regency Retirement Home in Lakefield, located at 91 Concession Street. It will start Sept. 15 and be on the third Saturday of each month until March with an additional program on April 19. Storytime will be from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. and will include songs, activities and a snack.

There will be P.A. Day Programs on Sept. 28 in Bridgenort­h. First will be the Fancy Nancy Picnic from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. rain or shine for ages 3 and up. Bring your fanciest tea cup and a blanket.

Then from 1:30 to 2 p.m. there will be a LEGO Animal Build for ages 6 and up where you can build an animal step-by-step. From 2 to 3 p.m. there will be a LEGO Block Party for ages 4 and up with the library’s giant LEGO collection.
