Lindsay Garbatt, Adam Assenza to fight on 10-bout BTC 4 Vendetta card on Nov. 24
Fighters Adam Assenza and Lindsay Garbatt will headline a night of mixed martial arts at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Nov. 24.
BTC 4 Vendetta will feature Assenza, the BTC lightweight champion, and a co-main event featuring Garbatt in the women’s strawweight championship.
Their opponents will be announced a later date, organizers say.
“If you’ve never been to a live fight, it’s something you need to experience, “Assenza told The Burlington Post prior to a hometown fight in June.
“The thing about attending a live fight is you not only see it, you actually hear the action. You hear the corners talking to the fighters, you hear the animosity between the fighters as they are getting in the ring, you experience the crowd’s reaction.”
The 5’7” 155-pound fighter, known as “Maverick,” captured the BTC lightweight title with a knockout win against Shawn Wallace in Burlington in June.
Garbatt, who got her start in martial arts as a child in Niagara Falls, moved on to boxing before MMA. She lives in Oshawa and trains in Oakville.
Known as “Lethal,” the 5’3” 123-pound fighter is currently the women’s International Boxing Association champion.
Fight fans will have 10 bouts to enjoy, with a local presence from Joe Elliott and James Clarke, while local kickboxer Kevin Henry will make his pro MMA debut.
Tickets will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at the Memorial Centre box office, by phone at 705-7433561 or online at memorialcentre.ca.
The presale for members of the PMC Scoop e-club is Wednesday at 10 a.m., online only.
