Homicide victim was a father of two
Investigation continues in Trent River
TRENT RIVER — The man killed in a shooting early Saturday morning in Trent River, about 40 kilometres east of Peterborough, was a father of two.
Scott McDonald, 43, of Trent Hills, was taken by paramedics to Campbellford Memorial Hospital where he died.
It happened at a rental cabin on Church St. between Trent River and Daley roads in Trent River, south of Havelock, around 4:15 a.m. Saturday.
He was the father of two children, Emily and Adam. He was the son of Gordon McDonald, and Marjorie and Leonard Kenny.
A private celebration of his life is planned for the Weaver Life Centre in Campbellford.
The family is asking that memorial donations be made to Peterborough Youth Services.
No arrest has been made in the Northumberland OPP investigation into the homicide.
Police do not believe there is any threat to public safety as a result of the killing, Const. Kimberly Johnston stated.
Two people were observed leaving the scene, Johnston stated. the area. A search for evidence continued Monday.
Det. Insp. Gerard Scherer of the OPP criminal investigation branch is leading the investigation being conducted by the Northumberland OPP major crime unit, the OPP Central Region forensic identification unit, the OPP emergency response team and the OPP canine unit.
