Lindsay Muskies assistant manager takes ticket post with Ottawa Senators

- KAWARTHA LAKES THIS WEEK

In the land of Jr. A hockey it’s not just the players who hold onto the dream of moving on with their careers in hockey, with an eye of eventually making it to the big leagues.

That dream exists in the minds of some of the off ice staff as well. For Lindsay Jr. A Muskies assistant general manager Alex Pickford, that dream came true earlier this season.

The Peterborough native came to work for the Muskies in 2015 as director of game day operations, moved into the role of special assistant to hockey operations and then assistant general manager.

In the past Pickford has also worked with the Peterborough Petes and Mississauga Steelheads organizations, and has worked with the University of Ottawa Gee Gees.

Outside of hockey he recently completed the marketing program at Fleming College.

When the Ottawa Senators came calling earlier this year, Pickford just had to answer. He has since accepted a position in the client servers department.

“I am working closely with ticket operators and season ticket holders for the Ottawa Senators. My job is to be the point of contact for season ticket holders. Sell ticket packages to fans and provide important information about promotions to the client,” Pickford stated.

“Since I was a little kid I’ve dreamt of working in the NHL. For years I’ve been working toward that goal and I am proud of what I’ve achieved to date. This is just the beginning and I can’t wait to see where this takes me.”

He was also quick to praise the Lindsay Muskies organization.

“I don’t think I would be in this spot today if it wasn’t for Dan West and the Lindsay Muskies organization. Dan gave me an opportunity in 2015 and helped me grow as a hockey/ business individual. I learned a lot from him and he gave the chance of a lifetime,” Pickford stated.

“I couldn’t thank him enough for all the support and I wish nothing but the best for the Muskies organization.”
