Lakefield Legion hosts Christmas Bingo

More than $2,000 in prizes to be won

A special Christmas Bingo will be presented on Tuesday at the Lakefield Legion. Cards and tickets go on sale at 6 p.m. and the hall opens at 5:30 pm. As well as the $1,050 in prizes, the $1,000 Jackpot will be awarded.

Christmas prizes and gifts will be raffled off (tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5) and Christmas sweets and goodies will be available for munching. This is an age of majority event open to the whole community. For more informatio­n, call 705-652-7988.

Selwyn Public Library

The Selwyn Public Library is offering an Essential Oils Presentati­on where you can learn about using essential oils. It will be in the Lakefield Library Centennial Room at 10 a.m. on January 11. Registrati­on is required, so phone the library at 705-6528623 to reserve your seat.

The library is also offering a presentati­on entitled Intro to Naturopath­y, presented by Healthy Foundation­s Naturopath­ic Clinic. It will be on February 11 at 10 a.m. at the Ennismore Library. Spaces are limited, so phone the library at 705-292-8022 to reserve your seat.

Bridgenort­h United Church

There will be a Women's Coffee Hour meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The theme will be “Tinsel and Tears." Coffee and treats will be provided, and all women are welcome.

Bridgenort­h United Church will have a Choir Candleligh­t Service at 7 p.m. this Sunday. All are welcome.

There will also be a Christmas Calm Service entitled “I Need a Quiet Night, a Holy Night” at 7 p.m. on December 23. This will be a quiet, meditative service with music by solo voice, guitar and keyboard. There will be time to light a candle for a loved one. Everyone is welcome.

The Christmas Eve service will be at 6 p.m. on December 24. It will be a family service with music provided by the Tarnished Angels band. All are welcome.

Lakefield Ladies Curling

The Grace Davis Draw ended on Nov. 8 at the Lakefield Curling club. First place went to the team of Barb McKee, Debbie Wiltshire, Jan Herald and Randi Holmes with 26.36 points. Second place went to Darlene Hockaday, Marilyn Lemon, Marilyn Buxton, Barb Hurn and Marina Bullard, with 22 points. The Holly Draw ends on Tuesday. The Fun Christmas Bonspiel will be held for the Lakefield Day Ladies League on Thursday. The Day Ladies League hosted a Women’s Leads and Seconds Bonspiel on Nov. 28 at the Lakefield Curling Club. It was the first of the curling season for the four clubs involved. Peterborou­gh C.C., Peterborou­gh Golf C.C. and Ennismore C.C all sent women to represent their clubs. The women curlers took turns being the skip in a tumbleweed. Carol Shaw and her club volunteers organized the afternoon. The next Leads and Seconds will take place on January 16 at the Peterborou­gh Golf C.C. Informatio­n submitted by Cathy Orr.
