Evans climbs to fifth on NLL career scoring list

Corey Small tops 600 mark in all-time points

Peterborou­gh’s Shawn Evans became the fifth-highest scoring player in National Lacrosse League history with a 10-point night in a 19-9 Buffalo Bandits win over the Georgia Swarm on Saturday night at the Infinite Energy Arena in Duluth, Ga.

Evans had four goals and six assists to improve to 19 goals and 42 assists to lead the NLL in scoring so far this season with 61 points. Evans now has 1,154 alltime points and passed Shawn Williams who had 1,152.

Evans’ Peterborou­gh Lakers teammate Corey Small had five goals and two assists and topped the 600 career points mark.

Peterborou­gh’s Thomas Hoggarth had a hat trick and an assist for the Bandits (7-2).

Lakers goalie Matt Vinc stopped 32 of 41 shots for the win.

Laker Holden Cattoni had three assists for the Swarm (7-3). Cattoni is sixth in league scoring with 16 goals and 31 assists.

The win vaulted Buffalo ahead of Georgia and into a tie for first place in the Eastern Division with the Toronto Rock (6-1).

Colorado Mammoth 12 Philadelph­ia Wings 10

Peterborou­gh’s Kyle Killen had two goals and an assist and Peterborou­gh Lakers captain Robert Hope had an assist to help the Colorado Mammoth (2-5) edge the Philadelph­ia Wings 12-10 on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelph­ia.

Peterborou­gh’s Josh Currier had three goals and an assist for the Wings (1-7) while Lakers goalie Doug Buchan had an assist and stopped 28 of 40 shots for the loss.

New England Black Wolves 16 Rochester Knighthawk­s 13

Peterborou­gh Laker Andrew Suitor had a goal and an assist to help the New England Black Wolves beat the Rochester Knighthawk­s 16-13 on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Ct.

Peterborou­gh’s Cory Vitarelli had a goal and an assist for Rochester (2-5). New England improved to 4-3 and sit in fourth place in the Eastern Division.

Curtis Dickson’s 11-point night leads Roughnecks over Rush 17-12

SASKATOON — Former Peterborou­gh Laker Curtis Dickson had four goals and seven assists and Dane Dobbie added four goals and six helpers as the Calgary Roughnecks beat the Saskatchew­an Rush 17-12 on Saturday.

Tyler Pace scored four times and tacked on three assists while Riley Loewen had a pair of goals for the Roughnecks (5-4), who got singles from Dan MacRae, Dan Taylor and Mitch Wilde.

Robert Church and Jeff Shattler paced the Rush (3-4) offence with a hat trick each while Ryan Keenan and Curtis Knight both scored twice. Mark Matthews and Ben McIntosh rounded out the attack.

Christian Del Bianco made 39 saves for the win as Lakers goalie Evan Kirk stopped 27-of-42 shots in defeat.

Keegan Bal’s 10-point effort leads Vancouver over San Diego 14-6

SAN DIEGO — Keegan Bal had six goals and four assists as the Vancouver Warriors beat the San Diego Seals 14-6 on Friday.

Jordan McBride, Mitch Jones and Tony Malcom had two goals apiece for the Warriors (3-6).

Dan Dawson had a pair of goals for the Seals (4-3).

Eric Penney made 40 saves for the win. Frank Scigliano stopped 43-of-55 shots in defeat.
