Selwyn Public Library now offers curbside pickup

- Kacie Gardiner

The Selwyn Public Library is offering curbside pickup by appointment at all three branches.

Here’s how it works: Place holds on items you would like using the online catalogue, available at mypubliclibrary.ca. If you don’t use a computer, then phone your local branch to arrange your holds.

Once holds become available, a library staff member will phone you to set up your curbside pickup appointment. Ennismore can be reached at 705-2928022, Bridgenorth at 705-292-5065, and Lakefield at 705-652-8623.

For more information, go to mypubliclibrary.ca or phone your local branch. Curbside pickup is offered using social distancing guidelines, and library items have been in quarantine a minimum of three days.

The Selwyn Public Library is redesigning its website, and public input is encouraged. There is a survey on the current website, mypubliclibrary.ca, where community members can answer the questionnaire. The goal of this project is to ensure the website is accessible, modern, easy to navigate and useful for users.

On Friday at 7 p.m. there will be a “Harry Potter” family trivia night. All wizard, witch and muggle families are welcome to join the second Harry Potter Family Trivia from the Selwyn Public Library. Questions will be new and will only be based on the first three Harry Potter books. Register at mypubliclibrary.ca.

There will also be an evening of General Knowledge Virtual Trivia on June 12 at 8:30 p.m. for adults only. Test your knowledge on a range of topics and maybe learn something new. Play on your own or as part of a team, and please include your team name when registering.

Trivia Night will take place online using Zoom and the game is played using Kahoot. Ideally you will have TWO devices to play (such as a computer and phone/tablet) — one to display the host and gameboard, and one to act as your controller. If you only have one device, the library can offer instructions.

Instructions and the Zoom link will be emailed out the morning of trivia night. If you have any questions, email Sarah at sjones@mypubliclibrary.ca. Registration is required at mypubliclibrary.ca
