Pinecrest Nursing Home

BOBCAYGEON — Pinecrest Nursing Home is being closely watched again by health officials in the wake of a positive test result for COVID-19.

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is working with the Bobcaygeon facility in response to a suspected outbreak.

The nursing home, which saw 28 deaths in the early weeks of the COVID-19 outbreak, was cleared by the health unit on May 14.

This outbreak was declared June 11 after a staff member with atypical coronavirus symptoms tested positive for the virus.

Given the atypical nature of the staff person’s symptoms and the history of the facility, the health unit is working with Pinecrest to review precautions and conduct additional testing on staff and residents as determined in consultation with Public Health Ontario.

The health unit is also working with Fenelon Court Long Term Care Home after an outbreak was declared at the Fenelon Falls facility on June 11. One symptomatic resident tested positive for the coronavirus and is being isolated. Additional testing is being conducted on the residents and staff.
