Friends share $100K jackpot

Two Peterborough women are sharing a $100,000 Encore lottery prize. Janice Ross, 67, and Lennie Sweeting, 64, matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the April 29 Lotto 6/49 draw to win the prize. The winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K convenience store on King Street in Peterborough. Both are machine operators and have been friends for more than a decade and play the lottery as a team regularly. The two friends both have the same plan for a portion of their winnings — to prepay their funerals. Sweeting plans to bank the remainder of her share and Ross is planning a trip back home to England when it is safe to travel again.
