No Remembranc­e Day parade and service this year due to COVID-19

Another group of cancellati­ons related to COVID-19: the annual Remembranc­e Day banquet, parade and service will not be held in 2020.

There will be a private Legion ceremony at the Cenotaph on Nov. 11. The general public are asked to pay tribute to the veterans and members of the military at a different time or at home.

Community Care

The Community Care Adult Day Program for frail seniors and those with memory impairment and/or physical disabiliti­es takes place Mondays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 6 King St. W. If you are interested, call the office at 705-3247323 for rates and to book a space.

Meals on Wheels are available for area residents. Call the office for more details.

Coronation Hall

The Service Centre at Coronation Hall has reopened with COVID protocols in place. The washrooms and computer are not available at this time. Limit of two people at a time and staff can assist with the purchase of solid waste items, tax and utility payments and dog tag purchases. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Anyone entering the building must wear a mask.

Fresh Start

The Omemee Baptist Church’s Fresh Start store is open Wednesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 39 King St. E. The store offers used clothing and household items for sale. For further informatio­n, you can call 705-977-2425.

Soil and Crop

The Ontario Soil and Crop Improvemen­t Associatio­n (OSCIA) will hold a Grow Your Farm Profits workshop held at Douro Community Centre, Nov. 26 and Dec. 3, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

This interactiv­e workshop is followed by a one-on-one review meeting.

The OSCIA is also hosting webinars about Environmen­tal Farm Plans and other pertinent topics. Visit their website ontariosoi­lcrop.org for details of how to register and dates of the meetings.

Wallet draw

Tickets are on sale for this year’s Omemee Lioness wallet draw. First prize is $500 and a brand new leather wallet; second, $300 and a leather wallet; and the third prize is a wallet with $200. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and can be purchased through jillherb@yahoo.com. Etransfer money, as well as name, address and phone number. Tickets will be sold at Omemee Foodland Fridays 2 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. to12:30 p.m. The draw will take place Dec. 10.
