New case in Peterborou­gh

A new confirmed COVID -19 case in Peterborou­gh city and county, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation was reported Thursday afternoon by Peterborou­gh Public Health. It’s the fourth day in a row the jurisdicti­on has had a new case. The jurisdicti­on has now had 154 cumulative confirmed cases since the pandemic began in March, with 144 resolved and two earlier deaths, leaving eight active cases. The active cases include three men under 20, along with a woman in her 20s, a man in his 20s, a man in his 30s and a man in his 40s, according to Public Health Ontario. The health unit now has a cumulative rate of 104.2 confirmed cases per 100,000 people, as of Thursday. There is one outbreak, at Fairhaven long-term-care home, declared Saturday after a caregiver for a resident tested positive. The health unit is also monitoring­10 people who are at high risk because of close contact with a confirmed case. More than 34,750 people, or about 23.5 per cent, have now been tested at least once for the virus.
