Peterborough man arrested in OPP chop shop raid
A Peterborough man was among three people charged after Caledon OPP raided a chop shop Wednesday at a property on Highway 9 east of Orangeville, seizing construction equipment, trucks, snowmobiles and other vehicles found in various states of disassembly. An investigation was launched after a break-in on McLaughlin Road in Caledon in which two trucks and a Bobcat machine were stolen. On Wednesday, officers executed a search warrant at a property on Highway 9 near Duffy’s Lane, about 170 kilometres west of Peterborough, police said. A 1999 F450 Ford pickup, a 2007 International, three Miska dump trailers, two Bobcats, a Triton Elite trailer with a 2002 Polaris SkiDoo, a 30-foot Kingsport camper trailer, a Wacker generator, a Black Ford Taurus and forged documents were seized.
Ronnie Cote, 29, of Peterborough was charged with break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Bradley Stewart, 27, of Caledon was charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, driving while prohibited, possession of a forged document with intent, two counts of failing to comply with probation order and two counts of failure to comply with release order. Lisa Moriarty, 27, of Caledon was charged with break and enter a place, commit indictable offence, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Stewart was held in custody for a bail hearing while Cote and Moriarty are to appear in court in Orangeville on Jan. 14.
