Six more cases in Peterborou­gh

Six new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Peterborou­gh city and county, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation were reported Friday afternoon by the Peterborou­gh Public Health, while four more cases were resolved.

The jurisdicti­on has now had 210 cumulative cases since the pandemic began in March, with 182 now recovered and five deaths for a total of 23 active cases.

Two of the newer cases are young people under 20.

Active cases as of Friday morning included a male under 20, a female under 20, two men in their 20s, two women in their 20s, three men in their 30s, two men in their 40s, a woman in her 40s, a man in his 50s, two women in their 60s, a man in his 80s, a woman in her 80s, a man in his 90s and a woman in her 90s, according to Public Health Ontario.

The jurisdicti­on has a cumulative rate of 142.1 cases per 100,000 people, nearly one fifth of the provincial average of 790.2 cases per 100,000 as of Friday.

The health unit is also monitoring 66 people who are considered to be at high risk from close contact with a confirmed case.

An outbreak at Fairhaven long-term-care home, declared Oct. 31, is the only outbreak as of Friday. Three Westview 2 residents who had tested positive, two women in their 90s and a man in his 90s, died earlier this month.

Peterborou­gh remains in the yellow protect zone with tighter pandemic restrictio­ns, particular­ly for bars and restaurant­s.

More than 36,400 residents, or about 24.6 per cent, have been tested at least once for the virus, the health unit also reported.

Three new cases in Northumber­land, two in City of Kawartha Lakes, one in Haliburton

The number of cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19 for the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit topped the 300 mark on Friday.

Three new cases in Northumber­land County, two new cases in the City of Kawartha Lakes and one new case in Haliburton County were reported Friday by the health unit.

Six people have also recovered, leaving 23 active cases.

Among the latest to test positive are a staff member at East Northumber­land Secondary School in Brighton and a student at Hillcrest Public School in Campbellfo­rd.

The jurisdicti­on has now had 304 cases since the pandemic began in March, but remains in the province’s green prevent zone designatio­n.

On Friday afternoon, the provincial government confirmed that the jurisdicti­on will remain in the green prevent zone, but did announce that the nearby Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Unit jurisdicti­on to the east of Peterborou­gh County will move to the yellow protect zone on Monday with increased protocols similar to what are now in effect in Peterborou­gh city and county.

There have been 197 cases in the City of Kawartha Lakes with five active, 79 in Northumber­land County with 14 active and 28 in Haliburton County with four active.

The jurisdicti­on now has a cumulative rate of 164.1 confirmed cases per100,000 people, nearly one fifth of the provincial average of 790.2 cases per 100,000 people as of Friday.

The active cases include a female under 20, a man in his 20s, four women in their 20s, three men in their 30s, two women in their 30s, two men in their 40s, a woman in her 40s, two women in their 50s, two men in their 60s, two women in their 60s, three men in their 70s, a man in his 80s and a woman in her 80s, Public Health Ontario reported Friday morning.

The health unit is also monitoring 71 people in Northumber­land County, 11 in the City of Kawartha Lakes and six in Haliburton County who are considered at high risk because of close contact with a confirmed case.
