Library keeps pages turning during provincial shutdown
A reading challenge is on, and teen reviewers are urgently needed
The Peterborough Public Library presents the 2021 Reading Challenge. This yearlong challenge is an opportunity to expand your reading choices and read or listen to books from 12 different categories before 2021 ends.
Categories include a book by an Indigenous author, a book set in a place you would like to live, a book you consider a classic, a book related to Black Lives Matter, a book you meant to read in 2020, and several others. Once the challenge has been completed, readers can submit an entry form, beginning September 2021, to enter a draw and win a prize.
Readers can also join a private Facebook group to connect with other readers and discuss what others are reading as they complete the 12-book challenge. Library staff will also post suggestions throughout the year and upload the occasional video book chat. The Facebook group is available at facebook.com/groups/ptbolibraryreadingchallenge.

Teen reviewers needed
Teens who love to read and share their opinions are needed as teen reviewer volunteers at the Peterborough Public Li
brary. Teen Reviewers will meet monthly online, discuss and write about books and media for different audiences, and learn how to publish literary
opinions. Participants will meet monthly online on Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. and will earn volunteer hours for participating in discussions and contributing reviews for various media platforms.
Teen Reviewers must be ages 13 to 19 and have completed Grade 8 to earn volunteer hours that can count toward secondary school diploma requirements. Registration is required and spaces are limited.
For more information, or to register, please visit ptbolibrary.ca/teens or call 705-745-5382 ext. 2340.
Open Circle
St. John’s Anglican Church is hosting Open Circle for weekly, online worship. Open Circle is an inclusive, interactive and informal worshipping community and gathers for prayers, a song, and a reading from Scripture.
After a brief reflection from the leader, participants are encouraged to share their thoughts, followed by fellowship and conversation.
The music ranges from contemporary worship songs to traditional hymns. The next meeting takes place Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. on Zoom. For more information and the Zoom link, please email rector@stjohnspeterborough.ca.
