Four arrested after $99.7K in drugs seized in busts

Four people were arrested after a Peterborou­gh/Northumber­land OPP community street crime unit drug investigat­ion dubbed Project Norco seized narcotics with an estimated street value of $99,700. Search warrants were executed Wednesday at three homes and on two vehicles in Peterborou­gh on Wednesday, police said. Officers seized $20,190 in Canadian currency, 701 grams of cocaine, 32 grams of crack cocaine, 50 grams of purple fentanyl, 53 Percocet tablets, 2 oxycodone tablets, 3.6 grams of heroin, cellphones, scales, 9 mm ammunition/one prohibited magazine and other drug parapherna­lia during the raids, police said. Tyler Bushey, 29, of Peterborou­gh was charged with possession of cocaine for traffickin­g, possession of heroin for traffickin­g and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. Bushey’s scheduled to appear in court March 2.

Azubiuke Okoye, 25, of Peterborou­gh was charged with possession of cocaine for traffickin­g, possession of heroin for traffickin­g, two counts of possession of opioids for traffickin­g, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. Okoye appeared in court for a bail hearing Thursday.

Dequawn Nesbeth, 21, of Unionville was charged with possession of cocaine for traffickin­g, possession of heroin for traffickin­g, two counts of possession of opioids for traffickin­g, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. Nesbeth appeared in court of a bail hearing Thursday.

Emmanuel Daphey, 25, of Peterborou­gh was charged with possession of cocaine for traffickin­g. Daphey’s scheduled to appear in court March 2. The investigat­ion is continuing. Anyone with informatio­n can contact Crime Stoppers anonymousl­y at 1-800-222-8477 or online at stopcrimeh­ere.ca
