Gas prices should not be rising during lockdown
Can anyone explain to me why we are paying $1.14 a litre for gas and $1.15 for diesel? My understanding of their pricing was based on supply and demand. When I look around and see the COVID-19 lockdown and people staying in their homes, the lack of vehicles on our roads, and this being February with none or very few travelling, I have to wonder where is the demand?
I do hope people realize that for every penny fuel rises so also the price of our commodities rise. Look what your groceries cost as compared last December. The more the gas companies are allowed to raise prices the more our incomes are depleted The gas monopolies and the government make more money. Oh, I almost forgot — the Trudeau administration is also helping us with his useless carbon tax.
With most of our parliamentarians making six figures a year they soon forget about the reality we live in every day. Like our hippie PM they pay lip service to us when the cameras are rolling or a reporter is nigh for some brownie points but very little help is passed on to us in the real world.
I think we need a lot of help that we are not getting. We desperately need a change at the top, but we need to put some people in charge who have actually worked for a living and understand what the little man faces every day, who know what’s important and what is not.
Being retired and with the lockdown you get to watch a lot of politics on the TV. And it amazes me that out of the millions of people we have in this country this is the best we could choose. It’s sad we pay them the salaries we do and also sad that we pay them exorbitant pensions for life after only six years at the trough.
