The Prince George Citizen

Firearms case comes to close

-

The court case surrounding firearms seizures from a home in the VLA is nearing an end after two Prince George men pleaded guilty Monday to offences related to the incident.

Wayde Selly Gray Johnson, 56, was fined $500 and issued a fiveyear firearms prohibition for improper storage of a firearm during a B.C. Supreme Court hearing at the Prince George courthouse while Colby Selly John Johnson, 29, will be sentenced in early December for improper storage, possessing a stolen weapon and possessing a restricted weapon.

In April, Reginald James Davis, 43, was sentenced to six years in prison for his role in the incident, which saw police seize a sawed-off .22 calibre semiautomatic rifle, a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun and a rifle from a 2200 block Quince St. home in May 2011.

Just prior to sentencing, Davis had tried to take the fall, claiming he was responsible for all the guns, but failed to convince the sentencing judge who accepted Davis’s earlier statement to police that he knew the firearms were stolen and that Colby Johnson asked him to hide the weapons.

Wayde Johnson’s involvement was limited to knowing one of the rifles was lying on Colby’s bed, the court was told Monday.

Colby Johnson has an extensive criminal record that includes a 2004 conviction for possession of stolen property.
