Improvement coming to Massey Drive exit

- Citizen staff

Work has begun on two projects to improve safety and access along Highway 97 through Prince George, the provincial government said Wednesday.

An acceleration lane onto the highway from Massey Drive is being lengthened as is a deceleration lane to the off-ramp. The work, worth $400,000, is expected to be completed by the end of August.

And at the intersection with Fifth Avenue, a deceleration lane about 50 metres long will be added to the highway to improve right turns onto Fifth, at a cost of about $300,000. No date was provided for completion of that work.

“These projects will be welcome news to residents and businesses of Prince George,” said Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris.

“They will make local commuters’ use of Highway 97 a safer, quicker option while moving B.C.’s economy.”
