- Citizen staff

Trading hoses for hammers, Prince George Fire Fighters Local 1372 raised $6,400 for the Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund at the Northern B.C. Home and Garden Show last month.

They joined forces with Burleigh Building Ltd, to form one of three teams to compete in the Rona Kutthroat Construction Competition.

At stake was who could build the best playground, as decided by public vote, and the Fire Fighters-Burleigh team emerged the winners. In all, $12,800 was raised and split evenly between the Burn Fund and the Parkinson’s Foundation.

A centrepiece of the Burn Fund is the Burn Fund Centre, a “home away from home” for patients and families while undergoing treatment for burns.
