A theft of raffle tickets, cash and a payment terminal has left Positive Living North scrambling to retrieve the items as well as warning people against buying any of the stolen tickets.

The incident occurred Tuesday at Canadian Tire where staff had been selling the tickets. Shortly after 5 p.m. a male grabbed the cashbox holding the items and ran out of the store.

The grey metal box contained $350-$400 in cash, a black Moneris payment terminal, three books of sold tickets and three books of unsold tickets. The unsold tickets are numbered 2441-2470, 24712500 and 2561-2590.

“Please do not purchase tickets from any of these books as they are being sold by unauthorized individuals,” the organization said in an alert.

As for the tickets sold prior to the theft, Positive Living is asking purchasers to drop by its office at 1563 Second Ave. with their stubs and exchange them for new ones.

The books of the sold tickets are numbered 311-340, 23212350 and 2411-2440 and were likely purchased at the BC Liquor Store during Sept. 5-8, and at Canadian Tire on Monday and Tuesday.

As for the stolen items, Positive Living North is asking the culprit to return the sold tickets and the payment terminal. “This device is secure and cannot be used to access any information but there is a cost for Positive Living North to replace,” the organization said.

“Our greatest concern is to ensure that those individuals that supported our raffle have the opportunity to benefit from our draw,” it added.

For more information or to see if a purchaser’s ticket has been affected, call Positive Living North at 250-562-1172.
