Dorsett scored a ca­reer-high 12 goals in 77 games with the Colum­bus Blue Jack­ets in the 2011-12 sea­son. He has six goals in 10 games this sea­son and is on pace for 49. Think about that. The gritty winger who many had pegged as an ex­tra for­ward be­cause of cer­vi­cal fu­sion surgery last De­cem­ber in Los An­ge­les – which shut his sea­son down and raised re­al­is­tic con­cerns about a full re­cov­ery and ef­fec­tive­ness – is prov­ing us all wrong.

And be­ing wrong never felt so right.

Dorsett is fi­nally healthy for the first time in three years. Hip, sports her­nia and neck in­juries made many won­der if he was a buy­out can­di­date with two more years at $2.65 mil­lion US an­nu­ally. That’s a lot for a fourth-line grinder, but Dorsett is play­ing like a first-line force.
