Cats four points back of Blazers

-

The Cougars tied it in the second period, taking advantage of a bad line change which created a 2-on0 break. Josh Maser passed the puck ahead to Ethan O’Rourke, who got behind the T-birds’ defence with Vladislav Mikhalchuk, who finished by tapping in a goalmouth pass from O’Rourke.

Grant made 22 saves in goal as his record dipped to 8-9-2-0. Berlin made 32 stops.

The loss left the Cougars four points behind the Kamloops Blazers for fourth place in the B.C. Division. The Blazers knocked off the Eastern Conference-leading Moose Jaw Warriors 5-2 Friday in Moose Jaw.

LOOSE PUCKS: The Cougars play Saturday in Everett (7:05 p.m., 94.3 FM The Goat) then travel to Langley for a Sunday matinee (4 p.m.) against the Vancouver Giants... Cholowski arrived for Friday’s game in plenty of time but his equipment and luggage did not. It was lost in transit somewhere along the way during his flights from Toronto to Chicago to Seattle. Cholowski’s parents from Langley brought him an older pair of skates and some sticks and Cougars equipment manager Chico Dhanjal was able to fit Cholowski with the rest of his hockey gear for the game... Mikhalchuk will leave following Saturday’s game in Everett to join his teammates from the Belarus national team in Buffalo to get ready for the IIHF world junior championship, which starts Dec. 26.
