The Prince George Cougars continued the remaking of their roster on Tuesday.

The Western Hockey League team announced the acquisition of 18-year-old defenceman Cameron MacPhee from the Medicine Hat Tigers. In return, Medicine Hat got a seventh-round pick in the 2018 bantam draft.

“Cam is a steady puck-mover who defends well,” said Cougars general manager Todd Harkins. “He’s got good size and he plays a heavier game. He’ll fit in nicely.”

The six-foot-one, 185-pound MacPhee made his WHL debut last season when he appeared in 16 games with the Tigers. He also skated in 12 games for the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

This season, MacPhee was back up with the Tigers for 20 games. In his 36 WHL contests, he has one goal and one assist.

MacPhee is an Edmonton product and a graduate of the South Side Athletic Club of the Alberta Midget Hockey League.

In recent days, the Cougars also traded defenceman Josh Anderson to the Swift Current Broncos, forward Kody McDonald to the Prince Albert Raiders, blueliner Jonas Harkins to the Regina Pats and forward Ethan O’Rourke to the Everett Silvertips.

The WHL trade deadline is today at 2 p.m. local time.

• Former Cougars forward Brad Morrison was dealt from the Vancouver Giants to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Monday. The 20-year-old Morrison was traded for Brennan Riddle, a 20-year-old defenceman.
