RCMP release sketch of robbery suspect

- Citizen staff

Police have released a sketch of a suspect in a robbery this summer in the hope it will prompt some tips from the public.

The incident occurred on Aug. 12 at a home on Bertschi Road, off Shelley Road northeast of Prince George, when a resident found an unknown vehicle in his driveway.

The driver gave a “lame excuse” when questioned about why he was there and then the resident noticed another man looking out a window from inside the home. When the resident confronted the suspect seen in the house, he was bear sprayed and the two fled, one on foot and the other in the vehicle – a purple, latemodel Jeep with a chrome grill.

Police were called to the scene at 10 a.m. With the help of a tracking dog, several stolen items were located in a nearby wooded area but no suspects were apprehended.

Police are asking anyone who may recognize the person in the sketch to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250561-3300.

Tips can also be left anonymously at Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca (English only), or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637) using keyword “pgtips.”

Police are also reminding the public to refrain from confronting persons committing crimes. Instead, call 911 immediately and pass on as much information as possible.

“The safety of the public is our priority and criminals are often very unpredictable,” RCMP said.
