Beaudry will miss World Cup pursuit

Sarah Beaudry has had better days at the office.

Wednesday was not one of them on the slopes of Oslo Holmenkoll­en, Norway.

The 23-year-old Prince George biathlete finished 84th in a field of 97 competitor­s in the World Cup women’s 7.5-kilometre sprint. The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club member finished 3:30.7 behind gold medalist Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia, who edged Darya Domracheva of Belarus for top spot on the podium. Domracheva was 8.9 second behind. Yuliia Dzhima of Ukraine won bronze, 29.2 seconds behind Kuzmina.

Rosanna Crawford of Canmore was the top Canadian, finishing 38th, 1:51.8 off the winning pace. Julia Ransom of Kelowna placed 46th, and Emma Lunder of Vernon was 57th. Their top-60 results mean Crawford, Ransom and Lunder qualified for Saturday’s 12.5km pursuit.

The four Canadian women will team up today in the women’s 4x6km relay.

In the men’s 7.5km sprint Wednesday, Scott Gow of Canmore was the top Canadian in 49th place and his brother Christian also qualified for the pursuit on Saturday, finishing 56th. Brendan Green of Hay River, N.W.T. was 71st and Macx Davies of Canmore finished 96th out of 104 starters.

Norwegians Henrik L’Abee-Lund and Joannes Thingnes Boe were 1-2 in the sprint. Boe was just 6.1 seconds behind, while Martin Fourcade of France claimed bronze, 6.9 second behind L’bee-Lund’s pace.
