Wanted man could be in city

A man suspected of committing serious crimes in New Hazelton could be in Prince George.

Police asking for the public’s help in tracking down Lane Steven Peepchuk, 43, after receiving a report of forcible confinemen­t in the community 440 kilometres west of Prince George.

A search warrant was executed on his home on April 9, but he was nowhere to be found. However, police were told he stole the victim’s car – a white 2013 four-door Honda Accord with licence plate FK170B.

“Police believe that Peepchuk travels to the Prince George and Surrey areas and may be using the victim’s car for transporta­tion,” an RCMP statement said. “Peepchuk is possibly armed and is to be considered dangerous.”

He is described as Indigenous, six-feet tall, 221 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Peepchuk has an extensive criminal record that includes several offences committed in Prince George. He’s been charged with forcible confinemen­t, assault with a weapon, robbery, uttering threats and three counts of breaching an undertakin­g in relation to the latest incident.

“Under no circumstan­ces should anyone try to apprehend Peepchuk... Do not confront Peepchuk,” RCMP warned.
