Friends got great deals at library book sale Saturday
The one-day Friends of the Library spring book sale took place Saturday at the main branch with a steady stream of reading enthusiasts taking advantage of the large array of books purchased by donation.
There was about 70 people searching for literary gold at the beginning of the sale where boxes of books lined table after table in the Keith Gordon room of the downtown branch of the library.
Proceeds of the sale will be used for library programs and services.
Many browsers soon collected stacks of books in their arms as they kept a keen eye out for that special addition to their collections of fiction and nonfiction, a little romance, DVDs, and magazines.
Annice Yeoman, longtime Prince George resident who just completed her first year of the teaching program at UNBC, was one of the attendees of the book sale, making a special effort to find books geared for the younger set.
“I’m here looking at books thinking of the future,” Yeoman said. “It’s a good resource. Although I don’t know what grades I will be teaching it’s a good place to grab books and so I have some for the primary ages and the intermediate and I can use them in my classroom.
“As a teacher you have to find ways to be very innovative and try to find ways to get books into your classroom.”
Yeoman said she would take the books she finds at the Friends of the Library sale and use them to build her library at home and then when she has becomes a teacher the books will go into her classroom for her students to enjoy.
