Law Enforcement Torch Run adds to fundraising total

The Law Enforcement Torch Run drew more than 100 runners and walkers and raised $2,750 for Special Olympics B.C. when it was held Thursday at the Prince George RCMP detachment. Participants – primarily made up of members, staff and family of various public safety agencies as well as Special Olympic athletes, coaches, friends and family – followed a 3.5 kilometre route. Following the run, the RCMP hosted a public barbecue, social gathering and 50-50 raffle. The winner took home over $700.

Add in the car wash held in May, and the total raise exceeded $3,600.

“The Prince George detachment is once again honoured to host the Law Enforcement Torch Run in our community” Prince George RCMP Supt. Warren Brown said. “The public support has been overwhelming and the appreciation of the athletes makes all the efforts worthwhile.” Donations to Special Olympics BC can be made at
