Law Enforcemen­t Torch Run adds to fundraisin­g total

The Law Enforcemen­t Torch Run drew more than 100 runners and walkers and raised $2,750 for Special Olympics B.C. when it was held Thursday at the Prince George RCMP detachment. Participan­ts – primarily made up of members, staff and family of various public safety agencies as well as Special Olympic athletes, coaches, friends and family – followed a 3.5 kilometre route. Following the run, the RCMP hosted a public barbecue, social gathering and 50-50 raffle. The winner took home over $700.

Add in the car wash held in May, and the total raise exceeded $3,600.

“The Prince George detachment is once again honoured to host the Law Enforcemen­t Torch Run in our community” Prince George RCMP Supt. Warren Brown said. “The public support has been overwhelmi­ng and the appreciati­on of the athletes makes all the efforts worthwhile.” Donations to Special Olympics BC can be made at
