Creative BC is sending an information team to Prince George to meet with musicians.

Today, those music advocates will hold a public info session to talk with local performers about how to access a number of new funding opportunities offered by the provincial government.

The new money comes under an umbrella called Amplify BC.

“Amplify BC is British Columbia’s new music fund administered by Creative BC,” said spokesperson Kyla Humphreys. “Amplify BC supports those working in B.C.’s diverse music industry over four program areas: career development for B.C. artists, support for live music events in B.C., support for B.C.’s music companies, and the development of our provincial music industry.”

The meeting is free of charge. It is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Courtyard By Marriott Hotel (900 Brunswick St.).

Creative BC’s program analyst Gina Loes said it is also a chance for the provincial agency based in Vancouver to get input from this area’s music scene.

“I hope that you are able to join us, as your expertise, perspective and knowledge would be invaluable for us to hear,” Loes said. “We will be focusing on programs that currently have open intakes: Career Development and Industry Initiatives and there will also be time to touch on Live Music and Music Company that are opening up in the fall.”

The creation of Amplify BC and its four funding programs was made possible by the injection of “an additional $7.5 million to BC’s music industry,” by the Government of British Columbia, said Loes.

Creative BC is an independent society created and supported by the Province of B.C. to sustain and help grow B.C.’s creative sector. The society delivers a wide range of programs and services to expand B.C.’s creative economy. The society acts as an industry catalyst and ambassador to help B.C.’s creative sector reach its economic and creative potential.

Musicians interested in provincial funding for their endeavours are invited to attend. RSVP via the Eventbrite website.
