Unchecked capitalism

Re: A love letter to America by Nathan Giede.

This article reminds me of many reasons why I left the U.S. in 1979 after 25 years of living the American Dream and returned to Canada where I was born. To put it mildly, it stinks of nationalism.

Giede’s opinion shows the naivete and privilege of his generation when he lauds the “land of the free” as some iconic fable of lore. Is Giede’s background so stunted he cannot see the backlash that unchecked capitalism is leaving worldwide in its wake?

I should think by now even the most ardent believers had lost their rose-coloured glasses when it comes to an over-industrialized planet which is suffering from the weight of human-driven change. Does he not see that the pursuit of freedom is also the contributor to worldwide interference and chaos?

Giede is not just fortunate but damned lucky to have been born with and into the time of “white power political rule” and it shows in his worship of the so-called “American Dream.” At the same time, he also depicts the ludicrous stupidity of those who refuse to recognize the litany of religious favouritism which drives this belief and all the conflict its pursuit has generated on a world scale in the last 2,000 years alone.

Jimi Hendrix wrote Castles Made of Sand and this is what is happening to our southern neighbour because of its refusal to accept socialism ideals as both profitable and proper in the best of human expression.
