Just $5 to see Metallica

-

What can you buy for $5? Let’s see. A drink from Starbucks. Cover to a bad club on a slow night. Or what about a charity Metallica concert Monday at Rogers Arena?

That is, if you don’t mind the occasional pause during your favourite guitar riff when a director yells, “Cut!”

The Fade To Black rockers announced Thursday they’ve scheduled a third live show in Vancouver to allow crews time to film additional footage for their 3-D concert movie, helmed by Predators director Nimród Antal and scheduled for release in mid-2013.

Monday will be Metallica’s last chance to film and perform on the “gigantic, massive, over-the-top stage” setup that has already entertained audiences in Mexico City and Edmonton.

“We would love to have you join us and be a part of our movie making adventure,”the rock pioneers posted to their website Thursday.

Because Monday’s show will include plenty of pauses to allow camera and lighting crews to adjust as needed, tickets are only $5. Too bad for those who paid between $67 to $144 for either of the band’s other two shows Friday and Saturday.

Monday’s shoot will have the band run through the entire live show and all proceeds will go to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Not a bad trade-off for waiting around a couple extra minutes in between songs.

Tickets for the Aug. 27 show were on sale to fan club members on Friday but the public can buy tickets through Ticketmaster. There is a four ticket per person limit. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the band will hit the stage at 6:30 p.m.
