Home renovation show set for weekend

-

Planning a household renovation? You may want to keep some time free this Saturday.

That’s when the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association is holding its free North Shore Home Reno Show.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be held at The View, at 2121 Lonsdale. There will be “Ask-aPro” consultations, exhibits and seminars on a variety of subjects, including planning a renovation, exterior painting, budgeting, energy-saving tips, kitchen design trends and legal considerations.

“Whether downsizing or a growing family, I would encourage people to come with their plans and ideas to the GVHBA Home Reno Show this Saturday and meet with our builders, designers and renovators at the Ask-APro Expo,” said association CEO Bob de Wit in a prepared release detailing the event.

“They have a lot of experience to share with helping homeowners weigh up the renovation options ... Our show is all about providing the homeowner with access to industry experts to be able to make informed renovation decisions.”

De Wit noted that people often miss those “intrinsic values” when considering a move, as opposed to staying in their homes and renovating.

“It is important to think about your neighbourhood, the established connections, where families have grown up together,” he said. “Local retailers and services you have grown to know and rely on — all of these connections are a part of the value of your home.”

Pre-register for the reno show by calling 778-565-4288. To see the full list of seminars, visit gvhba.org/events.
