Five reasons for Toronto Raptors to stay at No. 20

-

Assuming the Raptors keep their pick, here are five potential options at No. 20 that could wind up in Toronto.

All five were in for workouts in Toronto, although GM Masai Ujiri or his staff have gone out of town to sit in on workouts elsewhere if a visit couldn’t be arranged with a particular player.

1. Justin Anderson

SF, Virginia HT/WT: 6-6, 228

2014-15 stats: 12.2 PPG, 4.0 RPG, .466 FG%

He’s tough, he’s physical and he likes to defend. If they let coach Dwane Casey make the pick without any input from anyone else, this just might be his guy. He’s turned himself into damn fine shooter, too.

2. Montrezl Harrell

PF, Louisville HT/WT: 6-8, 240

2014-15 stats: 15.7 PPG, 9.2 RPG, .566 FG%

Draft Harrell and you are assured of getting the hardest-working man in the draft. There is no ‘off’ button with Harrell although there are offensive limitations.

3. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

SF, Arizona HT/WT: 6-7, 220

2014-15 stats: 11.2 PPG, 6.8 RPG, .502 FG%

Another defensive gem in the making and one who would fit nicely with coach Casey. Offensively, though, there really is a long way to go to make him a contributor at that end of the floor.

4. Kevon Looney

PF, UCLA HT/WT: 6-9, 220

2014-15 stats: 11.6 PPG, 9.2 RPG, .470 FG%

Long and rangy with a decent all-around game, Looney could fit in very nicely in Toronto. Not much of a post-up game but that can be developed.

5. Jerian Grant

PG, Notre Dame HT/WT: 6-4, 205

2014-15 stats: 16.5 PPG, 6.7 APG, .478 FG%

If he’s around at 20 it will be a bit of a surprise, but his combination of athleticism and NBA readiness makes him desirable.
